Gas Appliance Repair FAQs
Common questions about emergency gas appliance repairs
Can you repair all gas appliance makes?
Yes. Our Gas Safe engineers are experienced with all major gas appliance brands including Belling, Stoves, New World, Leisure, Flavel, Cannon, Hotpoint, Indesit and Zanussi. We also repair premium brands like Rangemaster and Lacanche.
How do I know if my gas appliance is unsafe?
Signs of an unsafe gas appliance include a yellow or orange flame instead of blue, soot or scorch marks, the pilot light keeps going out, a smell of gas when the appliance is on, or symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure like headaches and nausea.
Can you repair a gas appliance on the first visit?
We carry common gas appliance parts including thermocouples, ignition electrodes, burner caps and gas valves. Many repairs are completed on the first visit. Specialist parts may need to be ordered.
Is it worth repairing an old gas appliance?
We give honest advice. If parts are available and the repair cost is reasonable we will repair it. For very old appliances where parts are obsolete or the repair cost exceeds the value, we will advise on replacement.
What gas safety checks do you carry out?
We check the gas connection and supply pressure, test the flame failure safety device, check the burner and ignition system, verify adequate ventilation, carry out a combustion check and test for gas leaks after the repair.
Should I turn off the gas to a faulty appliance?
If you smell gas or suspect the appliance is unsafe, turn it off at the appliance isolation valve if you know how. If you smell gas throughout the property call 0800 111 999 immediately. Do not use the appliance until a Gas Safe engineer has checked it.
