Hot Water Cylinder Installation Across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London

A new hot water cylinder gives you reliable hot water for years. Our qualified plumbers install and replace hot water cylinders across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London.

Cylinder Types We Install

We fit the right cylinder for your home and hot water needs.

Vented Copper Cylinder

Traditional copper cylinders fed from a cold water storage tank in the loft. Available in standard sizes from 90 to 210 litres. Suitable for most older UK homes with an existing cold water tank.

Unvented Cylinder Upgrade

Mains pressure hot water without a cold water tank. Better flow at showers and taps, no loft tank needed. We are G3 qualified to install unvented cylinders safely and notify Building Control.

Direct Cylinder Replacement

A like for like replacement of your existing vented cylinder with a new copper cylinder of the same size. Includes new immersion heater and cylinder thermostat.

Indirect Cylinder Installation

A cylinder heated by your gas or oil boiler via a heating coil. We connect the primary pipework, motorised valve and cylinder thermostat to your heating system.

Combination Cylinder

A cylinder with a built in cold water storage tank on top. Used where there is no loft tank and no mains pressure option. We fit and connect these to your existing pipework.

Slimline Cylinder

Narrow cylinder for tight airing cupboards where a standard diameter cylinder will not fit. Available in vented and unvented versions.

Cylinder Installation FAQs

Common questions about hot water cylinder installation

How do I know if my cylinder needs replacing?

Signs your cylinder needs replacing include brown or rusty hot water, a leaking cylinder body, the cylinder being over 15 years old, poor hot water pressure or the cylinder being undersized for your household.

What size cylinder do I need?

For a one to two bedroom home a 90 to 120 litre cylinder is usually enough. Three to four bedrooms need 150 to 170 litres. Larger homes need 210 litres or more. We advise on the right size for your household.

How long does cylinder installation take?

A straightforward like for like cylinder replacement takes about four to five hours including draining the old cylinder, fitting the new one and testing. An upgrade from vented to unvented takes a full day.

Should I upgrade from vented to unvented?

An unvented cylinder gives you mains pressure hot water at every tap and shower without needing a loft tank. It is a good upgrade if you want strong shower pressure and have good mains flow. We can survey your mains flow and advise.

Do I need Building Regulations for a new cylinder?

Unvented cylinders over 15 litres must be installed by a G3 qualified engineer and notified to Building Control. We handle the notification for you. Vented cylinder replacements do not need Building Control notification.

Will I have hot water on the same day?

Yes. We drain, fit and commission the new cylinder in one visit. You will have hot water by the end of the day. We set the cylinder thermostat and test the hot water at each tap before we leave.
