Common Tap Faults We Fix
These are the tap problems we deal with most often in kitchens and bathrooms.
Dripping Tap
A tap that drips constantly wastes water and leaves limescale stains on the sink. Usually a worn rubber washer in older taps or a failed ceramic disc cartridge in modern quarter turn taps.
Leaking from the Base
Water seeping from the base of the tap when it is turned on means a failed O ring seal inside the tap body. We strip the tap and replace the O ring to stop the leak.
Stiff or Stuck Tap Handle
A tap that is hard to turn or feels gritty usually has limescale build up inside the mechanism. We strip and clean the tap or replace the cartridge if it is worn.
Low Water Flow
Poor flow from a tap can be a blocked aerator on the spout end, a partially closed service valve underneath or a kinked flexible hose. Usually quick to diagnose and fix.
Swivel Spout Leak
Water leaking from where the spout meets the tap body on a swivel spout tap means the internal O ring has worn. We replace the O ring and the leak stops.
Noisy Tap
A tap that makes a loud noise or vibrates when turned on is usually a loose washer, high water pressure or a faulty cartridge. We find the cause and quieten it down.

Tap Repair FAQs
Common questions about tap repairs
Why does my tap keep dripping?
A dripping tap is usually a worn rubber washer in older taps or a failed ceramic disc cartridge in modern quarter turn taps. Replacing the washer or cartridge stops the drip permanently.
Can you fix a leaking mixer tap?
Yes. Mixer tap repairs are common. We replace worn cartridges, O rings and seals inside the tap body. Most mixer taps can be repaired without replacing the whole tap.
How long does a tap repair take?
Most tap repairs take thirty minutes to an hour. We carry common washers, cartridges and O rings on the van so we can often fix the tap straight away.
Is it better to repair or replace a tap?
If the tap is a good quality brand and the fault is a worn washer or cartridge, repair is the right call. If the tap is old, heavily scaled or cheap, replacement may be better value. We give honest advice.
Can you repair a boiling water tap?
Yes. We repair boiling water taps including filter changes, boiler tank faults, steam and temperature issues. We repair all major boiling water tap brands.
Do you repair outside taps?
Yes. Outside tap repairs include leaking gland nuts, frozen tap replacement, double check valve fitting and supply pipe repairs.
