Frequent bleeding of radiators to release hydrogen gas is a sign of corrosion inside the system. The hydrogen is produced by a chemical reaction between the water and the metal inside the radiators.

What is a power flush and how does it work?
A power flush connects a high flow pump to your heating system and circulates cleaning chemicals at high velocity through all radiators and pipework. It dislodges sludge, scale and debris which is then flushed out of the system.
How do I know if I need a power flush or a new radiator?
If the radiator is cold at the bottom a power flush usually fixes it. If the radiator is leaking from the body it needs replacing. We can assess your radiators during the power flush and advise if any need replacement.
How long does a power flush take?
A power flush on a typical three bedroom home with seven to ten radiators takes about five to eight hours. Larger homes or systems with heavy sludge may take longer. We flush every radiator individually.
Is a power flush worth doing on an old system?
Yes. A power flush on an older system can restore radiator heat output and improve efficiency. It also protects a new boiler if you are planning to replace the boiler. Many boiler warranties require a power flush before installation.
Will a power flush damage my radiators or boiler?
A professional power flush should not damage a system in reasonable condition. If a radiator has a pinhole leak held together by sludge the leak may become visible. We check for this and can replace the radiator if needed.
What is inhibitor and why is it added after a power flush?
Inhibitor is a chemical that prevents corrosion inside your heating system. It coats the inside of radiators and pipework to stop rust forming. We add inhibitor after every power flush. It should be topped up annually.
