Central Heating Faults We Repair
Common central heating problems we diagnose and fix.
No Heating at All
Complete loss of central heating usually caused by a failed boiler, a faulty pump, a broken motorised valve or a programmer fault. We systematically trace the cause and get your heating working.
Cold Radiators
One or more radiators staying cold while others work. Can be caused by trapped air, sludge buildup, a stuck thermostatic radiator valve or a balancing issue in the heating system.
Radiator Leaks
Water leaking from a radiator valve, the radiator body or a pipe connection. Leaks cause water damage and pressure loss in sealed systems. We repair or replace the leaking component.
Noisy Heating System
Banging, gurgling or clicking noises from radiators, pipes or the boiler. Often caused by trapped air, sludge, a failing pump or pipework that needs securing. We identify and fix the noise source.
Radiator Not Heating Fully
Radiator warm at the bottom but cold at the top means trapped air. Radiator warm at the top but cold at the bottom means sludge. We diagnose the cause and bleed, balance or flush as needed.
Heating System Losing Pressure
The pressure gauge on your boiler keeps dropping requiring regular topping up. Usually caused by a small leak somewhere in the heating system. We trace the leak and repair it.

Central Heating Repair FAQs
Common questions about central heating repairs
Why are some radiators cold and others hot?
The most common cause is trapped air which you can fix by bleeding the radiator. If bleeding does not work the cause could be sludge, a stuck thermostatic radiator valve or the system needs balancing. We can diagnose and fix it.
Why does my heating system keep losing pressure?
A sealed heating system should hold steady pressure. Regular pressure loss means there is a leak somewhere in the system. We trace the leak by checking radiator valves, pipework joints and the boiler pressure relief discharge pipe.
Why is my heating system noisy?
Banging noises usually mean trapped air or pipework that needs clipping. Gurgling is trapped air moving through the system. Clicking can be pipes expanding against floorboards. We can quieten your system.
What is a motorised valve and why does it fail?
A motorised valve controls the flow of heated water between your heating and hot water circuits. The motor or the synchron motor inside can fail. Symptoms include heating coming on with hot water or no heating. We replace faulty motorised valves.
Can you repair a leaking radiator?
We can repair leaks from radiator valves and connections by tightening or replacing the fitting. A leak from the radiator body usually means internal corrosion and the radiator needs replacing. We can supply and fit a matching new radiator.
How quickly can you get my heating working again?
Most heating repairs are completed on the first visit. We carry common parts including pumps, motorised valves, thermostatic radiator valves and thermostats. If a special part is needed we can usually source it the same day.
